Who we are
Be TravelKind is a personal website run by Adam and Bella Oliver, based in the United Kingdom. We help travellers make more conscious choices for people, animals and the planet.
If you have any questions about this policy or your data, please contact us at hello@betravelkind.com.
What data we collect and why
Mailing list email address
If you sign up to our mailing list, we collect your email address. We use this to send you updates, blog posts and travel tips. We will only ever email you about Be TravelKind content — we will never use it for anything else, and we will never sell or share it with third parties.
Legal basis: Your explicit consent, given when you submit the signup form.
How to withdraw consent: Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also contact us at the address above to have your email removed at any time.
KindScore inputs
When you use KindScore, you submit information about a travel activity or experience. This text is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a rating and assessment. We do not store the content of your queries beyond what is needed to generate your result. Please refer to Anthropic's Privacy Policy for how they handle data submitted via their API.
Legal basis: Our legitimate interest in providing you with the service you requested.
Account data
When you create an account, we store your email address, username, and role (e.g. standard user or administrator) in our database. This information is used solely to authenticate you and personalise your experience on the site.
Legal basis: Performance of a contract — you need an account to access member features.
Google Sign-In
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google shares your email address with us so we can create or match your account. We do not receive your Google password. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details of what Google collects on their end.
Legal basis: Your explicit consent, given when you authorise the Google sign-in flow.
Comments
When you post a comment as a guest, we collect your display name and email address. Your email address is used only for administrative purposes and is never shown publicly — only your display name appears alongside your comment. If you are signed in, your display name is taken from your account profile rather than collected separately.
Legal basis: Our legitimate interest in providing a functional comment system and preventing abuse.
Points
Registered users accumulate points based on comment activity — for example, by posting comments or receiving likes from other users. We store a running points total against your account. This data exists solely to reflect your participation on the site and is not shared with third parties.
Legal basis: Our legitimate interest in recognising community participation.
Cookies and local storage

We use Vercel Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. This is privacy-friendly, aggregated analytics — it does not track you personally across sites and does not use advertising cookies. Please refer to Vercel's Privacy Policy for details.
