Conscious choices made easy,
every time you travel

We're Adam and Bella. We're building Be TravelKind because our honeymoon showed us that small choices when we travel can result in a big impact on people, animals and the planet.

How it started

Elephants made us think about how we travel

Elephants at Elephant Nature Park, Chiang Mai

We had an incredible honeymoon travelling in Vietnam and Thailand, taking in the unique sights, experiences, food and culture of each amazing country. But as we explored, we found ourselves questioning the impact of our travel - who benefits, and who is harmed?

It was during our visit to Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, a truly ethical sanctuary that puts the elephants first, where we really thought about how small choices matter. What if we'd decided to see elephants a different way? What if we thought bathing and feeding them sounded more enjoyable, without knowing that we're financially incentivising unethical treatment of these majestic animals?

We believe that travel can be beneficial - for the traveller, for the communities they visit and for the nature they can be inspired to protect. Small choices can make a big impact.

But how do we know which choices will make a difference?

That's why we're building Be TravelKind. To make it easy for us all to make more conscious choices, every time we travel.

Who we are

Adam

Adam

Software engineer, photographer and newly certified rescue diver. I'm building the website, writing the blog and capturing most of the photos you'll see here. I'm endlessly curious about the data behind travel and how small decisions can add up to a lighter footprint

Bella

Bella

Researcher, ideas person and community builder. I'm the one asking the awkward questions, shaping our stories, and turning what we learn into videos and guides. I'm passionate about travel that supports the local people who make authentic experiences possible

What matters to us

People

Tourism should benefit the local communities. That means fair wages, local ownership, and experiences that respect rather than exploit.

Animals

Whether wild or domesticated, animals are sentient beings that deserve a good quality of life. We'd love to see less animal cruelty in tourism.

Planet

No travel experience is truly carbon-neutral, but we can make better choices. Slow travel, less meat consumption and trains over planes.

What you'll find here

We share openly — the good and the bad

Be TravelKind is our space to share what we learn as we travel. We've made choices that we'd make differently now, and we'll never get everything right. But being more conscious of how we travel - and helping you to do the same - can enormously improve the world around us.

Trying to be better, is better than not trying at all.

If we help you pick an ethical elephant sanctuary over an elephant ride, choose a train over a plane, or stay at a locally owned hotel rather than a big chain resort, then we've achieved our goal.
